What is shellac nail polish or shellac gel nail polish?
Shellac nail polish and shellac gel nails are the same. In short, shellac nail is applied like gel and wear like polish. This is because the product is half regular nail polish, half gel and is basically applied with one base coat, two colour coats and a top coat. Between each coat, you cure the colour and set the polish by putting your nails under a special UV light or LED light machine.
Shellac nail is difference from UV gel nail and gel powder nail. Gel powder nail is formed by gel powder and liquid and UV gel is cured under UV light and it is harder than shellac nail. Put simply, a shellac nails manicure is a semi-permanent polish or gel.
How long do shellac nails last?
Shellac nail polish is generally last around 2 weeks on natural nails, with some lucky few getting a good 3 weeks in. But shellac gel nail polish can be applied on acrylic nail or powder gel nail extensions or enhancement of natural nail set and last 3 – 4 weeks, some cases it lasts longer depending on nature of people’s nails or lifestyles.
How to remove and renew shellac nails?
Because shellac is like a nail polish, it’s easier to remove than powder gel or UV gel. When your shellac gel nail applied on natural nails, you simply soak in acetone. If shellac gel is applied on acrylic or powder gel or UV gel nails, it depends on what you want to do new full set or infill. In case of infill, nail technician will file the top layer off and then apply infill as normal following by applying new coat of shellac gel. In case of new full set, your old shellac nail on top of the artificial nail is being filled of and then soak your nails in acetone and apply new set of acrylic or powder gel following new shellac nails.
